Co-founder Joel Wermut expressed his inspiration behind PropApp was because “the process is broken.”
“Most people’s initial response when asked ‘How easy is it to buy and sell property?’ is to step back and take a deep breath.
“It’s unnecessarily time-consuming, full of misinformation and complicated. If there’s one thing that people have told us, it’s that they don’t want to talk to people until they absolutely have to – they’d rather just get all the info they need and connect in an app from the comfort of their couch, or getting to and from work.
“Life’s busy, and it’s never been harder to move into or move on from property. So, we built an app you can use from your couch or on the train to get things done, on your terms, without all the chasing and noise of phone/email/text – well you get the idea.”
How Does it Work?
PropApp allows you to list your property needs and receive bids from real estate agents who want to win your business. That means no guesswork, no pushy pitches, and no settling. You get to compare agents, read reviews, and select the right one for you, based on service, cost, and experience.

Co-founder Joel said his favourite feature of the PropApp platform is the chat function.
“We don’t do chat willy nilly – or that would just be more noise in your life! PropApp chat sessions only start when you’ve gone through the app and told us you’re ready to connect. So basically, once you come in and tell us a bit about the property, you can choose to get an appraisal, which opens a chat between you and the appraising agent – but only if they send you an appraisal, so as not to waste your time.
“Better yet, if you’re ready to appoint an agent via our ‘get agent offers’ feature – the app only creates chat sessions for you and the agents you choose to shortlist after first receiving their offers.”

Since COVID-19, more and more agents have popped up – and agents (being people), will vary in terms of their suitability to get you a great outcome for your specific property and circumstances. Beyond that, there’s lots of misinformation in the property space, which can add to the confusion.
“PropApp makes all this go away. We also have an incredible buyer network that every person who lists on the app gets access to, which adds another layer of assurance that the sale will get the best result. We’re the only marketplace that brings a national buyer network to sellers, and we’re quite proud of that.”
I’m Not Ready to Sell – Can I Still Use PropApp?
Absolutely! Even if you’re not ready to sell, PropApp is the perfect place to keep an eye on the market. The app allows you to add your property without any resulting action, meaning you can be locked and loaded when the time comes. Adding a property will also allow you to get an appraisal, so you know what your property may be worth.
Not sure if it’s worth the effort? Joel says:
“For most people, their home or investment property represents some of the most important financial decisions they’ll make in their lifetime. It’s not every day you choose to buy or sell, but it should be every day that you’re up to date with being ready for when that time comes, especially if it’s not overly burdensome to do so.
“Our advice is to get an appraisal done at least once or twice a year so that you can keep a finger on the pulse as to the real value of your property. You might not want to move, but you should at least be in the best position to make that choice.”
